GOA WILL REMAIN A SEPARATE ENTITY, AFFIRMS NEHRU Brought to you By Franco Fernandes

GOA AS SEPARATE ENTITY

Prime minister Nehru told the people of Goa on May 22 that no change, administrative or other, would be effected in this Union territory against the wishes of the people. Addressing a largely attended Public meeting, Mr. Nehru said that Goa had a distinct personality and it would be a pity if this was taken away. "No doubt, gradually it will be changed by the passage of time and other factors. But we have no intention to make any such change. Therefore we have decided, and we hold to that decision, that Goa should remain separate entity in the Union of India." Mr. Nehru said there was no point in any agitation against this decision.
